Gaite Parisienne - some pics inside

Gaite Parisienne on October 21 turned out great. It was by Kennesaw Dance Troupe at Anderson Theater. Too bad I didn't mention it here before October 21.

I only have some frames from the little 1 minute video that a relative took with a digital camera. This is from the intro which was two minutes of quick stuff all over the stage. It was a synchronized corps intro with some partner elements in it, and it was quite fast. It's a miracle no one ran into anyone.

There are two Cartersville guys in the pics, Kevin and Tim. Four girls from Cobb Dance Academy and me, David.

That was a great team of around 35 people. I think it was 22 performers and there are also the crew, the choreographers, two or three wardrobe people, the director and others. I'm real proud to have been part of that. I'm very glad that this is the course this season took instead of my original idea to do nothing but class from August to summer then start performing again. This turned out a million times better. When you're part of a team, the whole team benefits then we take it to the stage, and the audience feedback convinces me that they benefitted too. This was a bunch of people giving a real production to the audience like it should be.

There's a lot to like about Gaite Parisienne. Even the unnamed roles like waiter, soldier, cancan girl or peasant/escort all still have "big parts" because of the show's pace along with versatile switching from ballet to character with some pseudo cancan and pseudo polka in there too. Lots of partnering segments, some solos and the Peruvian character all throughout.
