Big Band Hangar Dance

Lawrenceville, GA. - Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 690 invites you to put on your dancing shoes, dig out that WWII uniform and dance to the nostalgic melodies of Glenn Miller, Harry James, Count Basie, Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington. The 10th Annual EAA Chapter 690 Big Band Hangar Dance will be held on Saturday, October 23rd.

Reminisce to the swinging music of Atlanta’s spectacular Blue Notes, a nineteen-piece orchestra conducted by Bob Bailey and styled in the fabulous traditions of dance bands from the big-band era. The band performs a wide variety of dance styles – cha-cha, rumba, samba, tango, waltz, polka - and just plain old swing for great ballroom dancing.

This year from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, prior to the dance, Free Professional Dance Lessons will be offered to attendees compliments of The Allegro Dance Studio. In addition, there will be a Silent Auction with many interesting items of general and aviation interest alike.

Period Uniforms and Dress are encouraged but not required when Lawrenceville Airport comes alive to the swinging sounds of Big Band Jazz and the sounds and traditions of the 40’s and 50’s. Prizes for dance couples and most realistic period style attire will be awarded. $35/couple, $20/single in advance, $45/couple, $25/single at the door. Non-alcoholic beverages and a fabulous dessert table are included. Music and dancing 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM in the Aircraft Specialist Jet Center Hangar 7, Briscoe Blvd., Lawrenceville Airport, Lawrenceville, GA.

Reservations strongly suggested. For more information or to make reservations call 770-339-0804 or e-mail Lee Olson at [email protected]

There are also two Yahoo groups where they are always looking for notices like yours. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AtlSwing/ and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/swingtown/ They're both intended for metro Atlanta swing stuff.
