Postby Jenee' » Sat May 22, 2004 1:10 pm

I am looking for somewhere I can take African dance classes. I tried the phone book, but I have been unsuccessful. Any suggestions? :?

There is a man named Samba who teaches that. I have done a few shows with him since February this year. I just did a show with him on May 12. Cobb Dance Academy would be happy to tell you how to get in touch with him. Ask for Mary the Director. She knows Sam well. Tell 'em David sent ya.

I stopped by the Cobb Dance Academy yesterday. It turns out that Samba has a class scheduled there for July. It is on Saturdays at 11 am to noon. He does African drum class from noon to 1... right after the African dance class.

He's a native African, by the way. I don't know when he migrated to Georgia.

I didn't ask exactly when this schedule starts. I left assuming it starts the first week in July. So give them a call at 770-218-2677.

african dance class

Postby goldnchyl » Mon Jun 14, 2004 8:45 pm

This class at Cobb Dance Academy will start in July of 2004 and continue for the month. Please, Please, Please people! Sign up! If they do not have 6 (yes, just six) people registered by the first class, they will have to cancel it. That would be a shame as there are no other classes like this offered in the area.

Are you sure about the 6 person thing? Can you tell us who that info came from?

That 6-person thing just sounds more like a ballet or jazz class policy because they can just move students from one class to a fuller one in those styles. Ya can't do that with African dance. But, I don't know if that's what they said or not. I was wanting to see who said it because there's a chance that they could have gotten confused and stated policies for other classes, not this one.

African drum/dance - children and adults

Postby Ngoma » Mon Jul 12, 2004 10:04 am

I am looking for African drum and dance classes for children and adults in the Snellville, Lawrenceville, Lilburn area. I know about the Guinea Dance and Drum classes in downtown Decatur. Just wondered if there's anything in Gwinnett County?
